Focus on marketing
‘I began my career in consumer marketing with Northern Foods and some of its market leading subsidiaries. I then moved to business to business marketing in the construction sector, with Perstorp Warerite, a UK subsidiary of a Swedish multi-national, where I was dealing with distributors, fabricators and architects.'
Through this varied experience, I gained an all-round, 360 degree perspective of marketing. As a member of international marketing teams, I worked on everything from new product development, research & strategy, to turning the theory into reality by developing and delivering marketing communications.
When I set up Freelance Marketing, I had an opportunity to build a business from the ground upwards, which has given me an appreciation of the challenges faced by smaller businesses. When clients say they need help with ‘marketing,’ I ask them to define what they really mean. Often they list ‘brochures’, ‘advertising’ and ‘PR’, the promotional and communications side of marketing. However, effective marketing communications require clear direction and that relies on market knowledge.
Where Freelance Marketing adds real value to your marketing activity is by helping you to strip right back to basics and question what makes your company different from the rest – its ‘Unique Selling Point’ or USP. We also help you assess whether your proposed strategy reflects the needs of each customer segment, and identify potential new customer groups.
A 360 degree approach which can help make your marketing more effective'.
